Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Start by chopping the chocolate squares and melting them in the microwave with the butter.

In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat again until mixture is light yellow. Sift dry ingredients into the egg/sugar mixture and mix to combine. Add vanilla and melted chocolate/butter. Mix everything together until it's fully combined. If you're going to add the chocolate chips, do that now.

Pour the batter into a 9x13 pan and bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. I say mostly clean because I tend to underbake my brownies by a little bit so they're extra fudgy. Let cool for about 20 minutes and cut into 24 squares. Die of happiness.
