Ingredients: 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter; 2 large onions, chopped; 1/2 cup lemon juice; 1/2 cup vinegar; 1/4 cup prepared mustard (or 2 tablespoons mustard powder); 1 1/2 lb brown sugar; 1/4 cup fresh parsley or 2 tablespoons parsley flakes; 1 to 2 teaspoons pepper, to taste; 1 to 2 teaspoons garlic powder, to taste; 1 to 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, to taste; 1 1/4 cup water; 1 cup chili sauce; 1 to 3 tablespoons of your favorite bbq seasoning (I use a Penzeys brand, usually BBQ 3000, GALENA ST., or BBQ 3001.); 44 oz ketchup (or 1 28 ounce can of tomato sauce and 2 cups ketchup)

Melt the butter in a stockpot over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 10 minutes, stirring often.

Add the lemon juice, vinegar, mustard, brown sugar, parsley, pepper, garlic, water, Worcestershire sauce, and bbq seasoning.

Cook for 5 minutes.

Add the chili sauce and the ketchup (or ketchup/tomato sauce if using)

Reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Stir frequently.

Let cool and pour into jars.

Store in the refrigerator.
