Banana Short Cake

   1. Cream butter and sugar until thick and pale, gradually add the beaten egg and beat to combine. Sift in flour, cornflour, and baking powder and gently mix to combine.

   2. Pour batter into greased sandwich tin and bake 350 F for 20 minutes. Remove from tin and cool on a cake rack.

   3. Whip the cream and dice 1 of the bananas. Split the cake in half. Melt butter and pour over one half, then half the whipped cream and the diced banana, place other portion of cake on top, and spread remainder of cream over to cover, decorate with banana slices.
