Baked Strawberries

   Put strawberries, washed, hulled and halved, in a buttered 1-quart baking dish.

   Sprinkle berries with sugar, lemon juice and water.

   Remove crust from four 1/2-inch slices of day old bread (white) and cut bread into 1/2-inch cubes.

   Cover berries with cubes and sprinkle with brown sugar and lemon rind.

   Dot with butter and bake at 350u00b0 for 25 minutes or until bread cubes are slightly brown.

   Serve warm with sweetened whipped cream flavored with Kirsch.
