Aunt Bill'S Microwave Candy

   Combine sugar, buttermilk, soda and butter.

   Cover with plastic wrap.

   Punch holes in wrap and microwave 2 1/2 minutes on High.

   Stir and turn dish.

   Continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.

   Return to oven to 2 minutes or longer (until soft ball forms in cold water).

   Add vanilla and beat with electric mixer until soft peaks form.

   Add pecans and beat until thick enough to spread in a buttered 12 x 7-inch dish.

   Cool and cut in pieces.
