2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cloves
1 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. margarine, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1 x egg
1 3/4 c. applesauce
1 c. minced dates
2 Tbsp. powdered sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray 13x9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Lightly spoon flour into measuring c., level off.

In small bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cloves; set aside.

In large bowl, combine sugar and margarine; beat till light and fluffy.

Add in vanilla and egg; beat well.

Add in flour mix alternately with applesauce, beating well after each addition.

Stir in dates.

Spread batter into spray-coated pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 to 40 min or possibly till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving.

HIGH ALTITUDE - Above 3500 Feet: Decrease sugar to 2/3 c.. Bake as directed above.
