Combine syrup, warm water and butter and bring to a boil.

Mix cornstarch, salt and sufficient cool water to make a thin paste, add in egg yolks and beat well.

Add in cornstarch mix to warm syrup gradually, return to heat and cook till thickened to the consistency of pudding, stirring constantly.

Beat egg whites stiff, adding slowly the Tbsp.
