Apfelshnitten*(Apple Strips)

   Preheat oven to 400u00b0.

   In large bowl, mix flour, salt and 1 tablespoon sugar.

   Cut in Crisco.

   Mix together egg yolk and milk and add to crumbled mixture. Form into ball.

   Take out half and roll on floured board.

   Put this on 15 x 10-inch pan.

   Place cereal mixture into bottom, distribute apples and add sugar and spices.

   Roll out rest of dough and cover, as in a pie.

   Brush top with beaten egg white.

    Bake 40 minutes.
