2 tsp baking pwdr
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3/4 x to 1 c. raw oatmeal
2 tsp baking soda
1/3 c. sour lowfat milk, add in 1 Tbsp. lemon juice to 1/3 c. lowfat milk, let sit while making cookies
3 Tbsp. dark molasses
1 x egg, beaten
1 x egg, for topping

Grind raisins and peanuts.

Combine flour, baking pwdr, spices and salt; cut in shortening.

Add in sugar, oatmeal, raisins and peanuts; mix well.

Dissolve baking soda in sour lowfat milk; add in to dry ingredients.

Combine and add in molasses and 1 beaten egg.

Chill 1 hour.

Shape dough into walnut-size balls on greased cookie sheet.

Press down slightly with fork.

Beat 1 egg and paint tops of the cookies.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 15 min or possibly till golden.
