2 ounce red food coloring
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 x Large eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted

1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp baking soda
4 Tbsp. flour
1 c. lowfat milk
1 c. sugar
1 pch salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp vanilla

Mix food coloring with cocoa and let stand.

Cream shortening with sugar.

Add in Large eggs and color mix.

Beat very well.

Add in buttermilk, flour, salt, and vanilla, beat again.

Remove from mix and add in vinegar and soda.

Pour in 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans.

Bake at 350-375 degrees for 30-35 min.

Icing:Mix flour and lowfat milk and cook till it thickens to consistency of cream.

Mix well; sugar, shortening and vanilla, and slightly cooked flour mix and beat till fluffy.
