1 stick margarine

2 c. white sugar
2 c. flour (do not sift)

1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine the first 4 ingredients and heat until blended.

Do not set back on stove and heat.

Pour the mixture into a large bowl with the white sugar, flour and eggs.

Be sure and mix sugar and flour together before adding eggs.

Beat mixture and add buttermilk with soda, salt and vanilla.
