Butter and flour a 13 by 9-inch loaf pan.

Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and wheat germ in a large bowl until well blended.

In another medium bowl, whisk together bananas, vegetable oil and egg whites until smooth and well mixed.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just incorporated, do not over mix.

Pour the batter in the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 1 1/4 hours or until a wooden stick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

Turn the bread out of the pan and cool completely on the wire rack.
