Preheat your oven to 400F.

In a food processor, spin the sugar and the zest of 2 oranges together to combine.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and orange-sugar from your food processor together with a fork. Mix well.

Separately, combine the milk, egg, and vanilla together. Set aside.

Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients (or do as I do and cube the butter, then rub it into the dry ingredients by hand) until it is a crumbly consistency.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing with a fork until just combined.

Shape into balls, if desired... or simply drop the dough from a spoon onto a greased baking sheet.

Brush the top of each with a teaspoon or so of orange marmalade if you want, and then bake for roughly 15 minutes! Yum.
