Melt the butter, add cake mix, and 1/2 cup evaporated milk.

Mix together and press half of this mixture into a 9x13 greased pan.

Bake this for 5 minutes at 350 degrees.

Next melt caramels in 1/2 cup of evaporated milk until smooth ( I used microwave ).

Pour caramel mixture over the slightly cooled cake ( Note: save 1/8th of this mixture to drizzle over the cake when it is done ).

Sprinkle in 1 cup of pecans, 1 cup of chocolate chips.

Next spread the remaining cake mix mixture on the cake ( note: add a little more evaporated milk to this mixture to thin it out a little so it will pour more evenly ) Bake the whole cake at 350 degrees for another 25 minutes.

Let cool and drizzle the remaining caramel mixture over cake and add a few pecans on top for decoration.
