Sweet Potato Pie

   Combine first 7 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

   Stir well and set aside.

   Beat eggs; gradually add milk, syrup and vanilla, stirring until blended. Gradually stir egg mixture into sweet potato mixture and pour filling into pastry shell. Bake at 425u00b0 for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 325u00b0 and bake 1 hour and 5 to 10 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool; serve with whipped cream, if desired.
