Swedish Coffee Twist – a delicious recipe with yeast, warm water, buttermilk, butter, sugar, salt. Easy to follow and perfect for any occasion.

Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.

Bring buttermilk and butter to boiling.

Pour into large bowl with sugar and salt.

Beat in 2 cups flour and then beat in yeast mixture and egg and soda.

Gradually stir in the remaining flour until mixture cleans sides of bowl.

Turn out on floured board and knead smooth and elastic, adding more flour to prevent sticking.

Turn bowl over dough and let set for 15 minutes.

Roll into a rectangle and spread with melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Fold over and cut into strips and twist.

Raise on cookie sheet for 45 minutes in warm place.

Bake at 375u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned.

Frost lightly with powdered sugar glaze.
