For the cookies:

1. In a large bowl cream together sugar and butter until fully mixed.

2. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and mix them in.

3. In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda and salt).

4. Slowly pour the dry ingredients in with the wet ingredients, while stirring. Mix until fully combined.

5. With your hands, shape the dough into a ball.

6. Cover the bowl with a sheet of plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours (or overnight).

7. After dough has been refrigerated, preheat oven to 400 F.

8. Lightly grease a cookie sheet, or two.

9. Lightly flour your counter top and roll out part of the dough. (keep the rest in the fridge while you work with the first section).

10. Roll your dough out to be about 1/4-3/8 inch thick.

11. Cut your dough into shapes (if you don't have cookie cutters, use the top of a glass).

12. Place cookies 1 inch apart on the prepared cookie sheets.

13. Re-roll the trimmings and the remaining sections of dough and cut them using the above steps.

14. Make sure dough is still cold when you put it in the oven. (otherwise put your pan in the fridge for a couple minutes before baking).

15. Bake cookies for about 7 to 9 minutes until they turn a light golden brown color. (Watch them closely for the last couple of minutes to keep from burning.)

16. Remove pans from the oven. Allow cookies to cool slightly on pan and then remove them to a cooling rack.

17. Allow cookies to cool completely before frosting.

18. Spread frosting over cookies and add sprinkles if desired.

For the frosting:

1. In a medium sized bowl mix together all of the frosting ingredients (except food coloring).

2. Add more powdered sugar to make frosting thicker, add more milk to thin the frosting.

3. Add about 6 drops of desired food coloring if you want to. Mix to combine.
