1
You start out with the two French Bread loaves.
-
2
You need to slice the bread in half from end to end, so that you have a top and bottom half.
-
3
Think a large sub bun.
-
4
You need to hull out the bread.
-
5
Take a fork and slowly pull the inside of the loaves out.
-
6
Be careful not to break through to the outside of the bread.
-
7
You do not need to have it paper-thin either.
-
8
The goal is to make a large hollow opening in the loaf.
-
9
The bread you pulled out needs to be broken up into small pieces.
-
10
Preheat oven to 375F
-
11
Next, you need to brown the hamburger and the sausage.
-
12
Pretend you are cooking tacos.
-
13
You can brown the beef and the sausage together if you like.
-
14
Once the meat is brown, make sure you have it chopped up in the small pieces and also make sure you drain it.
-
15
In a large bowl combine your bread pieces that you hulled out of the loves along with your browned hamburger and sausage plus the cheese.
-
16
All of the cheese.
-
17
Stir all of it together or do as I do and use your hands to mix together.
-
18
You now need to add milk.
-
19
The amount of milk you add will depend on how dry the bread is.
-
20
Start out with 1-cup.
-
21
The goal is to add just enough milk to get the bread mushy enough that everything sticks together.
-
22
Once your filling is mixed then you spoon the mixture into the bottom halves of the two bread loaves.
-
23
Remember you have the top to cover it and you need to press it in.
-
24
Make sure it is tightly packed.
-
25
Place the tops on the loaves and wrap each loaf tightly in aluminum foil.
-
26
I prefer to double wrap them.
-
27
Stick them in the oven for one hour.
-
28
You are basically melting all the cheese and heating everything together.
-
29
After the hour pull them out of the oven and let them sit for at least 30 mins.
-
30
Slice off a piece as thick as you want and chow down.
