"Southern Living" Bar Cookie

   1. Combine caramels and 1/4 c. evaporated milk in small saucepan.

   Cook over low heat stirring occasionally until smooth. Set aside. 2. In a bowl combine cake mix, butter, egg, and remaining milk.

   Spoon half of mixture into greased 13 x 9 x 2 pan spreading evenly. 3. Bake at 350u00b0 for 6 minutes.

   Remove from oven; sprinkle with chocolate morsels and pecans. 4. Spoon caramel mixture on top.

   Carefully spoon remaining cake mixture over caramel layer. 5. Bake at 350u00b0 for 20-25 minutes.

   Cool on wire rack and cut into bars.

   Yields about 3 dozen.
