Ingredients: 2/3 c. veg. oil; 2 c. sugar; 2 Large eggs; 2 c. flour; 1 teaspoon baking pwdr; 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; 1 teaspoon salt; 2 c. sourdough sponge; 1 c. dates, minced; 1 c. nut meats; 1 c. fruit cake fruit mix; 1 teaspoon soda; 1/2 c. boiling water

2/3 c. veg. oil
2 c. sugar
2 Large eggs
2 c. flour
1 teaspoon baking pwdr
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
2 c. sourdough sponge
1 c. dates, minced
1 c. nut meats
1 c. fruit cake fruit mix
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 c. boiling water

Cream the oil and sugar together till smooth; add in the Large eggs and beat well.

Sift together the flour, baking pwdr, cinnamon, and salt.

Add in the dry ingredients to the egg mix and stir well till mixed; blend in the sourdough sponge and then the fruit and nuts.

Dissolve the soda in the boiling water, cold to lukewarm, and add in to the batter, stirring just sufficient to blend well.

Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans and bake in a 275 degree oven for 2 hrs.

The cake should shrink from the sides of the pan.

Allow to cold for 10 min.

Turn cake out on waxed paper till cool.
