Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. Mix thoroughly with knife, then gradually pour in milk while you stir until all are combined.

Makes a wet dough. Sift plenty of flour on a board. Turn the dough out in the center of floured patch using a knife to scrape it all out. Sift more flour on top of dough and pat out until it is 1/2-inch thick.

Cut into 12 or 15 pieces any shape. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Be sure oven is 275u00b0.

Bake at least 35 minutes.

They must be baked slowly in order that dough raises before a crust is formed. When touched on top and they spring back, they are done. Scones should be white, even when they are done.
