Beat margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy. Combine flour, baking soda and chocolate chips; also the nuts, if used.

Fold and cut (do not mix) half of this flour mixture into margarine mixture.

Add remaining half of flour mixture; fold and cut.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet, but before doing that, lightly dab these teaspoonfuls into the Rice Krispies, just enough to stick some of the cereal onto the cookie dough.

Drop onto cookie sheet with Rice Krispies side up.

Bake at 275u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes or until lightly brown.

Once cooled, cookies should be very crumbly in your mouth.

If centers are chewy, cookies require more than 40 minutes in your oven.
