1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream the sugar, Crisco and eggs.

Combine cocoa, vanilla, vinegar, salt and food coloring. Add to creamed mixture.

Mix well. Bake in two 9-inch pans at 350u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool, then split layer with thread to make 4 layers.
