3 tablespoons cornstarch

Slowly drop gelatin into 1/4 cup cold water.

In saucepan, stir together the regular sugar, cornstarch, salt, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until simmering and somewhat thickened.

Remove from heat, stir in softened gelatin to melt.

Stir in 1 tsp vanilla and margarine.

Pour in large bowl to cool.

Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.

Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until stiff.

Fold egg whites into cooled pumpkin mixture.

Spoon into the pie shells.
