Plantains In Sweet Caramel Syrup

   Note: I used brown sugar because I want my sweet plantains to be a colorful red. If you have white sugar at home, you can also use that. The nutritional difference wouldn't matter much. However, note that your sweet bananas will be of a lighter shade.

   To start, place all the ingredients in a pan. Cover and cook over medium to high heat. Let it boil for 20 minutes.

   By this time, the bananas will have already cooked. Lower the heat to medium but make sure the water is still boiling. Now we caramelize the syrup together with the bananas.

   Wait for the liquids to thicken. It may take at least 15-20 more minutes. When the syrup is thick and turns a lovely red color, turn the heat off.

   Let the bananas cool down in a dish. Serve with a cold drink!
