1 c. sugar
3/4 c. buttermilk

2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

Cream 1/2 cup butter.

Add 1 cup sugar; mix well.

Add egg; beat 1 minute. Combine buttermilk and vanilla; add alternately with dry ingredients to the cream mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
