1
Mix together flour and salt.
-
2
Cut the lard with two knives or a pastry cutter into the flour.
-
3
The finished consistency should be similar to dry oatmeal.
-
4
In a measuring cup lightly beat the egg and add the vinegar to it.
-
5
Add enough cold water to make 1 cup of the mixture.
-
6
Gradually stir the liquid into the flour/lard mixture.
-
7
Only add enough of the liquid to make the dough cling together.
-
8
Divide the dough into 3 balls and wrap 2 of them in wax paper or plastic wrap.
-
9
These 2 can be frozen for future use, you will only need 1 for this recipe.
-
10
Using a rolling pin, roll the ball of dough out on a floured surface to form a large rectangle.
-
11
If you find the dough too sticky to work with it can be cooled in the refrigerator for a couple of hours prior to rolling it out.
-
12
Liberally coat the dough rectangle with butter, then coat with brown sugar and a dusting of cinnamon.
-
13
Roll the dough up like a tight jelly roll to form a long tube that is 2 to 3 inches in diameter.
-
14
Cut the tube into 1 to 2 inch sections and stack these section on a pie plate vertically.
-
15
You want to pack them together fairly close so they are all touching.
-
16
Bake at 350F for 40 to 55 minutes, the time will depend on how many Pets De Soeurs you have on the pie plate.
-
17
They will be done when they are bubbly and golden brown.
-
18
Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
-
19
Break off individual rolls and enjoy!
