1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Put your unbaked pie shell in a pie pan, if it's not already in one. In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, thoroughly mix sugar, flour and salt.

2. Add eggs one at a time and beat until mixed thoroughly but do not mix too fast.

3. Add corn syrup, melted butter and vanilla. Gently mix in the pecan halves and pieces. Pour into the unbaked pie shell .

4. Bake in the center of the oven at 350 F for 55 minutes. The pie is done when it gently wiggles when gently shaken. If the pie appears too loose when gently shaken, bake 5 more minutes at a time until done.

This recipe was inspired by a woman at the church that I attended when I was a child. She gave this basic recipe to my mother and I have only tweaked it a tiny bit. It is so delicious. Why mess with perfection?
