3 c. water
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1 Tbsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 lb. raisins

Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves onto sheet of waxed paper.

Bring water to a boil.

Add raisins and sugar and boil for 10 minutes.

Remove from the heat.

Add butter, walnuts and dry ingredients.

Mix well and spoon into 2 greased loaf pans and bake at 350u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.

Loaf pans may be lined with foil to make it easier to remove from pans.
