In skillet, in hot shortening, saute onion and chuck until lightly browned, stirring occasionally with a fork.

Add salt, pepper, dill seed and mushroom soup mix.

Stir in 1 cup hot water until well blended, then add corn, mixed vegetables and sour cream.

Spoon mixture into 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle Rice Chex evenly over top.

Bake 30 minutes, or until hot, covering loosely with foil after 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning of cereal.
