Mary'S Strawberry Shortcake

   Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

   Set aside.

   Beat butter until fluffy.

   Gradually add peel and sugar.

   Add egg yolks to butter mixture.

   Mix thoroughly.

   Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with sour cream.

   Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into batter.

   Pour batter into an 8-inch greased and floured round cake pan.

    Bake at 350u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes.

    Mix strawberries, liqueur and sugar.

    Set aside.

    When cake is done, let cool 15 minutes.

    Turn onto a platter or cake plate.

    Cut into two layers.

    Scoop ice cream onto first layer.

    Top with strawberry mixture and add second layer.

    Garnish with whipped cream and strawberries.

    Sprinkle with orange peel.
