Mapley Nut Bars

   Heat oven to 375u00b0.

   Mix flour and sugar in bowl.

   Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

   Press into bottom of greased 9-inch pan.

   Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Beat egg, brown sugar, syrup, melted butter and vanilla in bowl until well blended.

   Stir in nuts.

   Spread evenly over warm crust. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until topping is firm around the edges and slightly soft in center.

   Cool in pan.

   Cut into bars.

    If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
