Put flour, sugar, and salt in large bowl and mix well with fork.

Add shortening and mix with fork (or pastry blender:) until ingredients are crumbly.

Combine the two mixtures, stirring with fork or hands until all ingredients are moistened.

Divide dough into 4 round patties, wrap each with waxed paper and chill for at least one half hour.

When ready to roll pie crust, lightly flour both sides of patty, put on lightly floured board or pastry cloth.

Roll rolling pin in flour and then roll dough from center out, keeping pastry round. Roll until pastry is about two inches larger than an inverted pie pan.

Either fold pastry or roll onto rolling pin and transfer to pie pan.
