Ingredients: 1 1/4 c. boiling water; 1 c. oats (uncooked); 1/2 c. butter or oleo, softened; 1 c. sugar; 1 c. packed brown sugar; 1 tsp. vanilla; 2 eggs; 1 1/2 c. sifted flour; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1 tsp. soda; 1/4 tsp. nutmeg; 3/4 tsp. cinnamon

Pour water over oats; cover and let stand 20 minutes.

Beat butter until creamy; gradually beat in sugars.

Blend in vanilla and eggs.

Stir in oats mixture.

Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices.

Add to creamed mixtures; blend well.

Pour batter into greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan.
