Melt 1 cup butter and combine with water and 3/4 cup cocoa and bring to a boil.

In a separate bowl combine flour, sugar, and salt.

Pour hot mixture over flour mixture and beat to combine.

Add eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and baking soda and combine.

Pout batter into a greased 9x13 pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done.

While cake is baking, prepare the chocolate frosting.

For Frosting--Melt butter and combine with buttermilk, cocoa, vanilla, and salt.

Beat in the powdered sugar. Frosting should be thick but runny enough to cover the cake when poured on. If frosting is too thick, add more buttermilk or heavy cream a little at a time until you have the right consistency.

Remove cake from oven and pour frosting over the cake while it is still warm.
