Ingredients: 2 c. ground walnuts; 1/4 c. ground zwieback; rind of 1 orange; rind of 1 lemon; 9 eggs, separated; 1/2 c. sugar; 1/2 tsp. vanilla; 1 Tbsp. whiskey; 1 Tbsp. water; 1/2 tsp. cinnamon; 1/2 tsp. cloves; 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Beat egg yolks until light in color.

Add sugar, vanilla, whiskey, water, cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, nuts, zwieback, orange rind and lemon rind.

Beat egg whites until stiff.

Fold into mixture.

Beat well.

Pour into a buttered 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

Bake in a preheated 350u00b0 oven for 30 to 45 minutes. Test with a toothpick.

Cool and pour the following syrup over it.
