Preheat the oven to 350*.Lightly butter a 13x9 baking pan -- set aside.

TO MAKE COOKIE LAYER:.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until light.

Add the flour and beat just until blended.

With floured fingertips, press the cookie dough into an even layer in the prepared pan.

Cool on wire rack -- Leave the oven on.

TO MAKE THE COCONUT LAYER:.

In a large bowl, beat the brown sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and eggs with an electric mixer until smooth.

Stir in the macadamia nuts and the coconut.

Spread over the cooled cookie layer.

Sprinkle the top evenly with the chocolate chips.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
