   Combine flour, baking powder and salt; sift together into deep bowl.

   Stir in cornmeal; add eggs one at a time and beat with wooden spoon until smooth.

   Pour in 3/4 cup buttermilk and stir until absorbed.

   If too dry, add more buttermilk until holds shape in a spoon.

   Beat in onions and garlic.

   Preheat oven on lowest setting.

   Line cookie sheet with paper towels and set in middle of oven.

   In a deep fryer heat oil 2 to 3 inches until reaches 375u00b0. Shape rounded tablespoonful of batter and put into oil.

   Deep fry 4 to 5 at a time, turning frequently.

    Cook about 3 minutes.

    Put on lined cookie sheet.
