   Heat cooking oil to 375u00b0 in deep fryer.

   Mix together in a bowl the first 6 ingredients.

   Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add a mixture of the milk and egg all at once.

   Mix until well blended.

   Using about 1 heaping tablespoon for each, form into small cakes.

   Deep-fry only as many cakes at one time as will float uncrowded one layer deep in the hot fat.

   Fry 3 to 4 minutes or until well browned.

   Turn cakes with tongs as they rise to the surface several times during cooking.

   Lift and drain over fat before draining on absorbent paper.
