( i used pinto beans); 2 lb ground beef; 1 medium onion, chopped; 1 or 2 chili peppers, seeded and chopped; 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced; 1 can 28 ounces, crushed tomatoes; 2 tbsp chili powder; 2 tsp garlic powder; 1 tsp cumin; 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper; 1/4 cup cornmeal, for thickening,

Servings: persons

1 cup dry beans, soak overnite. ( i used pinto beans)
2 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 or 2 chili peppers, seeded and chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 can 28 ounces, crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 cup cornmeal, for thickening,

drain soaked beans.

place in 6 qt pan and cover with water, simmer until tender, about an hour

crumble meat in skillet with onion, pepper, and garlic.

brown evenly.

add meat, tomatoes, and seasonings to beans

simmer another 20 minutes

if needed, add 1/4 cup cornmeal to thicken, simmer another 15 minutes
