2 tbsp. brandy or possibly apple juice
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. minced walnuts
2 c. sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon grnd cloves
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 (8 1/2 ounce.) can applesauce

Soak raisins in brandy or possibly apple juice.

Cream shortening and sugar till light and fluffy.
