1
Put the butter in an 8-inch frying pan and melt over low heat.
-
2
When the butter is melted, turn off the heat and move frying pan to a cold place on the stove.
-
3
Break the egg over a big bowl and beat it with a fork or a chopstick.
-
4
Measure the baking powder and add it, then add the sugar.
-
5
Mix everything together.
-
6
Add the flour and mix together well.
-
7
Now pour in the buttermilk and the melted butter and mix again, but not too much-- you should have a few lumps in the batter.
-
8
If you mix too much, you'll get tough pancakes!
-
9
Don't wash the frying pan, but put it on the stove over medium heat.
-
10
To know when it is hot enough, flick a drop of water into the pan.
-
11
When it jumps and sizzles, the pan is ready.
-
12
Take a 1/4-cup measure and fill it with the pancake batter.
-
13
Pour the batter into the pan and tilt the pan so the batter runs all over it.
-
14
Cook the pancake until the edges get brown and little holes start to appear on top.
-
15
This takes about 2 minutes.
-
16
Flip the pancake over and cook until the other side is brown; this takes about 1 1/2 minutes.
-
17
Keep on making pancakes.
-
18
Spread the pancakes with your favorite jam and roll them up.
-
19
Eat them from your hand, like a hot dog.
