In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and brown sugar. With pastry blender or two knives used scissor-fashion, cut in margarine or butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in diced ham and shredded cheese. Stir in milk just until mixture forms soft dough that leaves side of bowl.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead 6 to 8 strokes to mix thoroughly.

With floured rolling pin, roll dough into a 9 x 7-inch rectangle. With floured knife, cut dough lengthwise into 3 strips, then cut each strip crosswise into 4 pieces.

With pancake turner, place biscuits on ungreased cookie sheet, about 1-inch apart. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden. Makes 12.
