In a large bowl combine the egg white, bread crumbs and, if using beef, 2 tablespoons water.

Stir in the carrot, onion, green pepper, salt, and pepper.

Add the ground meat and parmesan cheese and mix well.

Shape meat mixture into four 3/4-thick patties.

Prepare an outdoor grill for barbecue.

When the coals are ready, grease a cold grill rack with nonstick cooking spray and place the rack on a grill.

Grill the burgers over medium coals for 7 minutes.

Turn and grill 8-11 minutes or until no pink remains.
