Granny'S Sugar Cookies

   Cream together butter and sugar, then blend in egg.

   Add to mixture the flour and vanilla.

   Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in 400u00b0 preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

   If using cookie cutters, chill dough for 20 minutes before cutting.

   If decorating, add sugar or sprinkles, etc., before baking.
