1
Put oil in a pan and turn burner on stove to med-high. Cook the veggie burgers as instructed on the boxes.
2
Divide the romaine hearts among to bowls/dishes with the tomato, cucumber slices, pickle pieces, onions and cheese (if using) on top.
3
Place the burgers on top of the salads. For my husband I put ketchup and mustard (about half and half) right on top of the burger, then cut it into about 16 pieces which makes the 'dressing' go through the salad. For myself I put (Karam's) garlic sauce directly on the salad (without cheese) and then the burger on top of it all.

As I said before, variations are endless: Try a veg burger or real meat on the grill before putting on the sald. Add other ingredients, such as relish, bacon, or mayo, but remember this is supposed to have a hamburger-y feel! Great way to introduce picky children to salads.
