Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8 x 8 baking dish.

Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in the microwave on high power for one minute. Stir until completely melted. Set aside.

Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and xanthan gum with a wire whisk. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugars until fluffy.

Add eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture. Beat well.

Add melted chocolate to the mixing bowl. Blend well.

Slowly add the flour mixture to the bowl. Stir until combined.

Add remaining chocolate chips (and 1/2 cup nuts, if desired).

Spread batter in prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
