Cook on the stove; melt butter; add brown sugar and water, allow to melt and bring to soft boil; add vanilla, salt and coconut, (optional-add crushed nuts). Pierce the cake numerous times evenly spaced over the cake to allow the juices to soak through the cake. Pour the warm icing over the cake when it comes out of the oven.
