   Boil molasses; let cool.

   Melt butter and lard together; let cool.

   Add sugar to melted butter mixture, then add eggs, molasses and rest of ingredients, except flour.

   Add flour, 2 cups at a time.

   Dough will be very stiff.

   Roll into 1/2-inch rolls (about thickness of forefinger).

   Cut into pieces as wide as they are thick.

   Bake a sample (bake at 350u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes, until cookies are lightly browned on bottom and cooked clear through).
