2 eggs

Combine chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, well-beaten egg and 2/3 cup sugar in saucepan.

Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.

Thoroughly cream shortening, 1 cup sugar and vanilla.

Sift flour, soda and salt together; add to creamed ingredients alternately with 2/3 cup milk.

Blend in chocolate mixture and pour into two 9-inch pans. Bake at 350u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
